Kindle 10 Touch – review. Which e-book reader to choose?

I have loved books ever since I learned to read (actually I loved them even earlier, when adults read me bedtime stories). I have great love for paper, the rustling of pages and the smell of ink. The only downside is clumsiness. My solution turned out to be a Kindle e-reader.

Once upon a time in London…

When I was in London for the second time in my life, I noticed that practically everyone on the subway reads something. If it wasn’t a free newspaper, I mostly saw passengers with an e-reader in their hand.

At that time, I associated such devices with a very slow page change and poor quality, weak battery, long response time to any action. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Kindle reader, which was the most popular option among London Underground passengers at the time. I blinked and didn’t even know if anyone had already turned the page.

This is how I dreamed of my own Kindle e-reader.

A guide to choosing the perfect camera for your trip (to Sweden)

My first e-reader

I got it for Christmas, probably less than two years later. I was delighted – I could fit a whole lot of books and carry them all with me, at hand, in my purse. Take on a plane trip without worrying about hand luggage. Finally, a pleasure to travel by public transport.

I then chose the most basic Kindle model. It didn’t have a touch screen (instead buttons on both sides of the screen) or backlight (it was a regular e-ink display). Despite this, it served me for a very long time and was resold to serve the next owner.

I appreciated that my eyesight did not get tired from the harsh blue light. I replaced the reader only because … Legimi was introduced in Poland (it’s monthly e-book subscription in Poland).

Kindle Touch 10

I used Legimi before, but I missed the convenient e-ink display (the one where clear text is displayed in black and white). However, there are no models on the market without a backlit screen that have a touch screen.

I did not consider other readers, because I had them in my hands and tested them – they are clearly slower, the change of the page is clear, visible and I was afraid of the battery. Kindle can last up to 3-4 weeks, which could be difficult to achieve in readers based on Android.

I bought my reader on Allegro and chose the version with ads. Many people wonder if it is worth paying extra to get rid of ads. For some time I have been answering with full conviction: it’s not worth it.

Kindle 10 Touch - review. Which e-book reader to choose? – LikeSweden

The ad appears only in two places – on the locked screen and when the reader is turned off, or when browsing the home screen, where banners with book suggestions from the Amazon store appear. Nuisance level zero, and savings of up to 200 PLN.

Screen quality

Before buying, I compared Kindle Touch and Kindle Paperwhite. The latter is more expensive and has a higher resolution – I was afraid that it would be clearly noticeable. I took a chance with a cheaper model and I don’t regret it.

I think the quality is noticeable, but only when we look carefully at the letters and with normal reading it doesn’t bother anything.

Backlit screen

To be honest, I was afraid of the backlight the most. That it will be burdensome and tiring for the eyes – I had a phone and I didn’t like to read on it. I changed my mind very quickly and today I think that the backlight is the best feature of my reader.

You can set the brightness of the reader, thanks to which you can adjust its brightness to your preferences and conditions. Reading at night without waking up your husband lying next to you? No problem. It is true that there is one downside to this situation – I read until the morning and then I have a huge problem with waking up. Something for something.

Battery

The battery is just powerful. Or on the other hand – the reader is not very energy-intensive. I charge my Kindle once every 3-4 weeks on average. Unless I currently have more time and read at least an hour a day (although then I usually get immersed in history and read long hours) – then the loading takes place once or twice a week. This is an extreme situation.

Under normal conditions of reading to sleep, 3-4 weeks of work on a single charge is the most realistic result.

Working with Legimi

No additional applications can be installed on the Kindle, so the connection to the Legimi service is done via a cable, through an application installed on the computer.

Legimi allows you to download up to 7 items per reader per month. In addition, even if we do not download anything new, the reader should be connected once a month to synchronize the status of your subscription. I don’t consider it a minus, because I connect the Kindle to the computer once a month to charge it anyway, and 7 books on the reader are quite enough for me.

I can’t imagine using any other reader than Kindle. It probably works similarly to attachment to Apple devices. I heartily recommend it to you, especially in a duet with Legimi.

If you want to give me two weeks of free reading, register with Legimi using the button below. How it’s working? You create an account and receive a 30-day trial period (without a link, it’s only 14 days), and if you decide to buy a subscription, I’ll get 2 weeks for free.

I want 30-days trial at Legimi

🎭 This week in Swedish theatre and musical theatre:

⚔️ Spamalot has come to an abrupt end in Malmö. Following the bankruptcy of producer Julius Production AB, all remaining performances at Nöjesteatern have been cancelled. Many freelancers face unpaid wages, while ticket holders may struggle to get refunds.

🎭 Iggy Malmborg has been named the next Artistic Director of Folkteatern Göteborg, succeeding Frida Röhl after nearly 14 years. He officially takes over in January 2028.

🧙‍♀️ Wicked finally has a new premiere date! GöteborgsOperan has confirmed 3 December 2026, following delays with its new stage machinery. The changes also push 1984 and Julefrid? into 2028.

🎭 Har du sett Alice? had its world premiere at Kulturhuset Spira in Jönköping on 10 October. Starring Marie Robertson, the new Swedish drama explores identity, guilt and social expectations, inspired by Småland’s 19th-century famine years.

💕 Pride and Prejudice (Stolthet och fördom) is back at Göteborgs Stadsteater! We saw this production ourselves and absolutely recommend it. A beautiful, witty take on Jane Austen’s classic and there’s an English-subtitled performance on 5 November, making it accessible to even more theatre lovers!

Quite a dramatic week for Swedish theatre, in more ways than one 👀

🏆 Sweden has a new “best municipality to live in” and it’s right next to Göteborg.

Each year, Swedish magazine Fokus ranks all 290 Swedish municipalities on 33 different parameters - economy, jobs, income vs housing prices, safety, nature, services. The average score across Sweden is around 6/10.

This year’s winner: Härryda - a municipality just east of Göteborg, best known as home to Landvetter Airport. Scored 7.58. Last year it was in 27th place. A huge jump 📈

The mayor’s modest explanation: “we don’t have many areas where we’re really bad.”

The top 10 for 2026:
➡️ Härryda
➡️ Täby
➡️ Nacka
➡️ Lomma
➡️ Staffanstorp
➡️ Mölndal
➡️ Danderyd
➡️ Lidingö
➡️ Kävlinge
➡️ Knivsta

Last year’s winner Stockholm has dropped all the way to 44th, largely due to lower safety scores. 😳

So if you were curious where Swedes themselves say it’s best to live - it’s apparently a small place next to a big airport 🇸🇪

🎭 Two weeks since the Grease premiere in Gothenburg and somehow we still haven’t shared some of our favourite shots from that night! 📸✨

Looking through these photos again, I can almost feel that energy.
The music, the atmosphere, the excitement of premiere night… and most importantly, the pure joy of everyone on stage ❤️

Because one of the things I love most about live theatre is watching performers genuinely enjoy what they’re doing.
And trust me, you can SEE it.

For us at @marriedlenses, that’s also what makes theatre photography so special.
Trying to capture those little moments that last only a second, but tell an entire story.

So here’s a little throwback to a night full of music, laughter and some seriously infectious stage energy.
A huge thank you once again for having us at the premiere! 🤍

Which photo is your favourite? 👀

🎭 Last week in Swedish theatre and musical theatre:

🐶 UPDATE (error on slides) Legally Blonde – The Musical has finally found its four-legged stars! After this summer’s dog auditions, six dogs will alternate as Bruiser (Daisy, Flisan, Frasse, Hugo, Selma och Texas*) and three as Rufus (Coco, Annie, Samson*) when the musical opens at Södra Teatern in Stockholm on 16 October.

⚔️ Spamalot is back in Sweden with an updated production at Nöjesteatern in Malmö. Samuel Fröler leads as King Arthur alongside Kim Sulocki, Anders “Ankan” Johansson, Anki Albertsson and Morgan Alling in Monty Python’s gloriously ridiculous musical comedy.

🎭 After becoming a hit at Soppteatern, Claes och Andreas leker affär is moving to a bigger stage. Claes Eriksson and Andreas T Olsson’s revue reopens at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern’s Lilla scen on 17 October, with some new material added for the extended run.

🎓 Twelve emerging actors, twelve brand-new productions. Third-year acting students at Stockholm University of the Arts are presenting their own solo shows during Departure 2026, a completely free theatre festival running 10–17 October.

👶 And Göteborgs Stadsteater is trying something we love: theatre with babies. Parents can bring their little ones into the auditorium, move around, leave and return and nobody minds if the baby makes noise. The first Teater med bebis features En mycket liten människa on 13 October.

🇸🇪 Happy Kanelbullens dag! 🥳

Today, October 4, Sweden comes together for one very important national responsibility:

keeping the kanelbulle economy alive. 🫡😂

Bakeries are prepared.
Offices are stocked.
Fika tables are ready.
And somewhere, someone is buying an absolutely unreasonable number of cinnamon buns and calling it tradition.

As they should.

Kanelbullens dag has been celebrated since 1999, and honestly, I fully support a country that dedicates an entire day to one pastryb😭❤️

Whether you bake them yourself, grab one from your favourite bakery or somehow end up eating three because “it’s literally Kanelbullens dag”…

Today, calories are culturally necessary 🇸🇪

So the important question:

How many kanelbullar are you contributing to the Swedish economy today? 👀😂

1️⃣ Save this important piece of Swedish financial education
2️⃣ Send it to someone who owes you a kanelbulle today

🇸🇪 Can ice cream replace a kanelbulle? 👀🍦

A potentially dangerous question to ask one day before Kanelbullens dag… but IKEA decided we needed answers 😂

They’ve launched kanelbulle-flavoured soft serve for just 9 SEK, so obviously I had to investigate.

You can find it at IKEA stores across Sweden, except Gävle and Borlänge.

But tomorrow is still Kanelbullens dag, so let’s be reasonable here:
Why choose between them when you can have both? 🫡🇸🇪

Now tell me, have you already tried IKEA’s kanelbulle ice cream? And does it get your approval? 👀

🇸🇪 Which stage of moving to Sweden are you currently in? 😂

Moving to another country really does come in stages:
✨ OMG I actually did it! New country, new life, everything is exciting.
🇸🇪 Wait… I understand absolutely NOTHING.
📄 Why does this simple administrative task require 17 steps and three months?
🫠 Was moving here actually a terrible idea?
😌 Oh. Wait. This is just… home now.

And I think most of us move between these stages more than once.

You can love Sweden and still complain about something that makes absolutely no sense.
You can feel at home here and still miss things from somewhere else.
You can be grateful for your life AND get personally offended by Swedish bureaucracy on a Tuesday morning 😂

Eventually, you stop comparing every little thing and just build a life that works for you.

And somewhere along the way, Sweden stops feeling like the country you moved to and starts feeling like home 🤍🇸🇪

So… which stage are YOU currently in? 👀
