Vienna was our second stop on our Road Trip 2024. While browsing Agoda, our attention was drawn by the Hotel Daniel, located in the city centre, just next to the Belvedere Castle and main train station.
About the Hotel Daniel Vienna
There are two words that would describe Hotel Daniel in Vienna – urban luxury (although they use headline “Smart luxury”). What they mean, and what I understand by experiencing stay there, they offer convenient and top notch stays without boujee atmosphere which is something that is rather annoying for target group like us. Sometimes you feel scared to breathe in some places – this is not a thing in here.
You can check in after 2pm and have to check out before 12 pm but there is a possibility of late check out if needed (€20 or €30, depending on the time you leave).
In the hotel there is a Daniel Bakery where breakfasts are served but the place is also open to public. You can go and enjoy breakfast buffet, brunches or dinners with urban, summer-like vibe. We didn’t have an opportunity to try food there – we decided to enjoy breakfast at the city centre and for the evening we were going to the theatre so we ate in the nearby.
Hotel Daniel Vienna – Location
Hotel Daniel is located in 3rd district, just 10 min walk away from the main train station in Vienna. It is also adjacent to the Belvedere Palace and close to other important sights of Vienna. It is also a convenient start for commuting with public transport – metro line U1 is nearby.
Parking
Parking is available in the hotel, however there is no direct entrance form the underground car park to the hotel lobby. To enter, you need first to check in which is a bit tricky, because there was no information about that and first impression after finding the hotel driveway was you can’t stay there even for just a second to collect your access cards.
Eventually, the workflow is as follows:
- Enter the main driveway with your car and stay for a while next to the entrance.
- Check in at the reception, mention you need access to the car park and collect your cards.
- Drive further straight, turn left behind the corner and then left again to scan the card at the garage entrance.
Parking fee is €20 per night. Multiple charging stations for e-cars are available.
Panoramic Room
We stayed at the Panoramic Room that gets its name from a wall full of windows (initially covered with curtains – you can open them to let some sunlight in). The room has 22m2 and it’s equipped with a comfortable double bed.
Bathroom was surprising – the toilet was located in a separate, tiny room, while washbasin was in the room and shower was separated just by glass the wall.
The room was equipped with TV (no Netflix unfortunately, just Austrian television), hair dryer, towels and cosmetics (shampoo, shower gel, soap).
The Trailer Room at Hotel Daniel Vienna
There was one thing that made us book Hotel Daniel Vienna – it was the Trailer Room which was a main attraction showed on the pictures at Agoda website. We didn’t decide to book it (I’m not now sure if it was available during our stay) and we don’t regret. Pictures may suggest the trailer stands in a park or at least bigger garden. In reality, it’s located on the grass just in front of the main entrance tot he hotel, next to quite busy street.
However, I can understand someone enjoying the experience. It is overall something new and interesting.
Amenities at Hotel Daniel Vienna
Hotel Daniel in Vienna doesn’t offer anything special besides basics (like breakfast, WiFi connection, TV in the room). There is mini bar in the room but all the drinks were charged, except the coffee from coffee machine. Soap, hand cream and shower gel were provided, as well as towels, a hair dryer and safe in the room.
In the hotel there was also a small shop where you could buy some necessities like tooth brush if you forgot one.
Summary
Hotel Daniel Vienna has a good value for money and if we ever come back to Vienna, we would consider staying again here. Parking situation was at first a bit inconvenient, but overall it wasn’t that much of a problem. We had a good night sleep, the staff was very nice and friendly and despite of lack of some fancy stuff we experienced in many other hotels on our way, it was one of the better places we’ve stayed during our road trip.
