Berlin was our fist stop during Road Trip to Croatia in 2024. We stayed there for just one night and wanted to feel the vibe of Berlin. Here is my review of our stay in INNSiDE Berlin Mitte hotel.
Our main criteria for choosing the hotel were: location (city centre), fast wi-fi connection and parking – we were travelling by car and parking may be problematic, especially considering crowded centres of European capital cities.
About the hotel – INNSiDE Berlin Mitte
The hotel we stayed on is a 4-star hotel, a part of Melia chain, one of the hotels from INNSiDE brand. As all our stays, we booked it at Agoda app. Cost for one night with breakfast for two people was 2.463 SEK + parking and local tax payable on site.
Check-in is available after 15:00 (but we gave a note on booking we may arrive earlier just to leave our luggage before exploring the city and our room was ready earlier, around 13:00), check-out must be completed before 12:00 (late check-out available with additional charge). The reception works 24/7.
I have to say we had mixed feelings about our first impression. Maybe the person behind the counter had worse day but I felt a bit like I was unwanted. Communication was difficult, we both spoke fluent English but I felt it was uncomfortable (?) for that staff member, she didn’t want to use that language with us or maybe it was something else that I can’t really explain.
In addition, our cards were coded wrong so we couldn’t initially use elevator. We got back to the staff but were ignored, spent a few minutes waiting until someone else asked if they can help us. It turned out it wasn’t our mistake (which I think caused such an impatience with the first staff member).
Our check-out was smooth and after giving the cards back, paying local tax and parking, we were free to leave. We don’t have much more experience with personnel in that hotel so I’m taking some points off the score.
INNSiDE Berlin Mitte Location
The hotel is located in the very city centre, in walking distance to all major attractions and monuments of Berlin. It’s also well-commuted so if you need or want to use public transport, it is also possible.
The distance is as follows:
- To the Berlin Wall: 500m
- To Reichstag: 1,6km
- To the Pergamon Museum: 1,7km
- To The Brandenburg Gate: 1,9km
- To Checkpoint Charlie: 2,9km
Parking
Underground parking is available in the hotel which is undoubtedly a huge advantage. The cost is €28 per night and the entry is located just next to the hotel entrance. The entry is quite wide and places comfortable – it was probably one of the best parkings we’ve experienced during our road trip in 2024.
You get your parking ticket on entry and show it during checkout on the reception to cover your stay. You can pay with card or cash.
INNSiDE Room
We stayed in a double room called INNSiDE Room. It is quite big – around 21m2. The main part of the room is a big bed (you can choose configuration – 2 single beds or one double bed) and a living room area with table, TV and two chairs.
The bed was wide and comfortable. It gave us a perfect good night sleep (a bit too short I admit but it was our fault, we had to continue our journey ☺️). I can’t find the bed size anywhere but I’m pretty sure it was 180x200cm.
The bathroom was equipped in a walk-in shower and was also quite spacious. The hotel prepared also shower gel, hand wash and body lotion.
In the room there was also a fridge with set of free beverages from local producers (some fruit, sparkled drinks) and mineral water. For precious belongings you can use the safe.
Breakfast at INNSiDE Berlin Mitte
Breakfast is served in a hotel lobby and I liked it because of variety of products and how fresh everything was. There were a few sections available: hot (sausages, scrambled eggs, egg muffins, pancakes), cold (charcuterie, cheese, smoked salmon or herring in different flavours), muesli and yoghurt with different additions, fresh fruit and sweet buffet.
Breakfast was included in our stay, the price for one person is €28 which seems to be reasonable amount for the quality we’ve recieved.
Stay with pets at INNSiDE Berlin Mitte
This hotel allows you to come with your pets for additional charge. The type of room we stayed in is equipped with dog bed and doesn’t have any carpets so it’s easy to keep clean despite of animals that may be staying there.
Amenities at INNSiDE Berlin Mitte
Guests may use a gym and Finnish sauna located on a top floor in relaxation centre. The hotel has some conference rooms available so the place is great for business meetings, conferences or seminars. There is an a’la carte restaurant on the spot. What is more, you can use laundry services or luggage storage if needed.
Summary
Despite being so short, we enjoyed our stay in INNSiDE Berlin Mitte and will probably come back one day if we ever come back to Berlin. Arriving, we were extremely tired after whole night of driving and had a chance to get a great rest before continuing our journey.
