🎶 Night of Famous Musicals is returning with its biggest Swedish tour so far, bringing hits from Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Chess and The Lion King to 13 cities.

🏛️ Stockholm’s former gas holder is rapidly transforming into Gasometer, the Royal Swedish Opera’s temporary home during the renovation of the historic Opera House.

🎼 Göteborg Opera has named Italian conductor Vincenzo Milletarì as its new Principal Guest Conductor from 2027, while former Liseberg and Göteborg Film Festival executive Karl Svedung will take over as Marketing Director this autumn.

🎭 Swedish theatre maker Iggy Malmborg premiered his new production Sortistycken in Germany before bringing it to Gothenburg this October.

🎵 Award-winning musical The Wizard from Chicago returns to Stockholm in August, exploring the ideas of economist Milton Friedman, with English-subtitled performances available.

😂 And Sweden’s favourite comedy duo Marie Agerhäll and Jesper Rönndahl are finally heading on stage together with their first-ever joint live show.

🇸🇪 100% of Swedes say they`re willing to defend democracy

90% say "to a very high degree." That`s a number that basically can`t get any higher.

That`s the standout finding from polling agency Novus`s annual democracy report, released today as Sweden`s biggest political festival, Almedalsveckan, opens on the island of Gotland.

Trust in democracy is recovering. Nearly 6 in 10 Swedes now believe democracy is NOT under threat, up 8 percentage points from last year.
But here`s the twist: nearly 3 in 10 Swedes say today`s politicians are actively weakening democracy. The polling agency itself called that "quite shocking."

The diagnosis: democracy itself isn`t broken. The trust between voters and politicians is. Many Swedes feel politicians don`t actually trust them and that media and researchers are pushing personal agendas.

Novus`s message to politicians this week: slow down. Stop talking only to extremes. Solve problems 🤝

That`s the takeaway from Socialstyrelsen`s latest report, Sweden`s National Board of Health and Welfare. Average ER stay in 2025: 4 hours and 16 minutes. Up from the year before.

The regional gap is wide. Region Skån: almost 5 hours. Region Jönköping: just over 3. Where you live really matters.

But the gender pattern is the part that won`t go away. It shows up year after year, and the agency`s own medical expert admits openly that they don`t know the cause and that it needs to be researched.
