Me in December 🎄

Glögg in hand, pretending the Christmas market is my personality. If you need me, I’ll be “just looking” at every stall for 3 hours.

Here’s something I wish I didn’t have to write.

I’m furious. For the second year in a row I’m getting reports from Poland that Halloween is becoming dangerous for kids because some people are putting sharp objects or chemicals inside candy. Nails, needles, “seasoned” sweets. Last year it worried me. This year it hit close to home. My good friend’s daughter went out trick-or-treating and her group received tampered candy from three different people. Three.

I want to believe the world is safer than the headlines make it seem. Clicks love fear. When I was a kid, the worst that could happen was getting an unwrapped chocolate handed straight from someone’s palm and we worried about germs, not blades.

In Sweden, I haven’t seen this kind of media alert or heard about similar incidents. So I’m genuinely asking: does this not happen here, or is it just not widely reported? I chose Sweden as the place to live and raise a family for many reasons. If this really doesn’t occur here, I’m adding one more reason to that list.

Parents and neighbors:
✅ Check the candy. All of it. If it looks wrong, it is wrong.
✅ Prefer factory-sealed treats. Anything punctured or rewrapped goes in the bin.
✅ If you find something suspicious, report it to the police and tell other parents on your street.

Have you heard of cases like this in Sweden, or in your country? What did local authorities advise and how did schools handle it?

🚨 More municipalities say “no” to Sweden’s voluntary return talks.

More Swedish municipalities are saying “no thanks” to government talks on återvandring. Malmö, Lund, Kiruna, Jokkmokk, Norrtälje and the list is growing with open letters popping up.

👉 What’s the grant?
It’s money for people with residence permits who choose to move back to their country of origin. Today it’s 10,000 SEK per adult but it is set to jump to 350,000 SEK per adult from January 1, if you apply via Migrationsverket.

👉 Why the pushback?
Local leaders say the meetings send the wrong signal and could make settled residents feel unwelcome. The government says it’s voluntary and about giving correct info so people can decide for themselves.

This story is moving fast — expect more statements from councils in the days ahead.

Autumn in Sweden: I refuse to leave the house... unless a small blue slip says joy is waiting at the postombud. Suddenly I’m an athlete with purpose.

Signs it’s peak:
✅ Darkness: 1 - Me: 0
✅ Rain: constant
✅ Motivation: low
✅ Package pickup speed: Olympic

Retail therapy isn’t a hobby, it’s survival. If you see me outside, no you didn’t. You saw a human-shaped dopamine dash.

🚨 Snapchat isn’t just memes — it can turn into a shop in minutes.

Twelve teens in Stockholm needed hospital care after vodka bought via the app 🫣

DN found “Smirre 1L” for 300 SEK with delivery, and one seller proposed “free” in exchange for a $€xual act.

Criminologist Maria Dufva warns the market spans pills, stolen goods and prostitution and that teens can be pulled in or “pay” with images.

⚠️ Parents:
🚨 understand the apps,
🚨 watch Swish (even 74 or 36 SEK),
🚨 talk early when kids change schools.

🎃 Police reminder before Halloween in Sweden: some “pranks” can be crimes

Vandalism, frightening people, and even toy weapons can lead to trouble, or a police response.

What to know:
✅ Talk to kids about limits and consequences.
✅ Plan and supervise celebrations.
✅ Check who’s responsible at parties.
✅ Toy weapons at home = fewer alarms.
✅ If police show up, follow instructions.

Save and share with a parent in Sweden. Stay safe and have a good Halloween.

We sold our sofa and the delivery quotes were 3–4k SEK even after RUT. Wild.

Then my husband said: “Try FreeTrailer.com” Game. Changed.

What worked for us:
✅ B-license is enough
✅ 4 hours free – you only pay a small insurance fee
✅ If you book on the website in advance there’s a service fee, but you can often grab one on the spot via the app at the parking lot without that fee (if available)

Stop paying hundreds of kronor at petrol stations just to move a couch. This is smarter.

Quick tips:
👉 Check the trailer size and weight limits
👉 Bring straps and blankets
👉 Take photos of condition before and after
👉 Drive slow and plan your route
