🦟 Influencers are promoting mosquito stickers but they’re not allowed in Sweden.

They contain substances that haven’t been approved, and calling them “natural” or “safe” is illegal here.

Experts say they don’t work anyway and can even be risky, especially for kids.

👶 Small, sticky, and full of untested oils = not a toy.

📉 Authorities have reviewed over 20 brands in the last 5 years. None got approved.

🎯 The message? Just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean it’s safe.

Learning Swedish be like:
🟢 Hej - nailed it.
🟢 Jag heter - okay, I got this.
🟢 Hur mår du? - easy peasy.
🔴 Sjukhus - wait… what??

Just when you think you’re vibing with the language, sj-ljudet shows up and ruins your self-esteem 😩

And don’t even get me started on:
📌 en vs ett (guessing game)
📌 word order that feels like Yoda wrote your sentence
📌 numbers that sound NOTHING like what’s written
📌 and of course... sju sjösjuka sjömän på skeppet Shanghai

If you know, you know 😂

Tag your fellow language learners who are also suffering in Swedish silence 🇸🇪💬

When your social life depends on a laundry schedule 🧺🇸🇪

If you’ve ever tried to make plans in Sweden and heard “I can’t, I have laundry booked,” you’re not alone 😂

Welcome to the magical world of tvättstuga – the shared laundry rooms that every Swede treats like a sacred ritual.

You book it. You guard it. You don’t dare be late.
And no, you can’t just do laundry at home because in many apartments… you actually can’t.

Drying rooms, mysterious machines older than your grandma, and unspoken rules that will get you passive-aggressively scolded if broken.

It’s not just washing clothes – it’s a lifestyle 😆

✨ First it’s all fika, fresh starts and fairy lights.

Then one day you realize…
you’re just sad in Swedish 🇸🇪💧

Welcome to the immigrant timeline:
🔹 Stage 1: romanticize everything
🔹 Stage 2: cry in public
🔹 Stage 3: do laundry, pay bills, and keep going
🔹 Stage 4: realize this is home now
(even if Migrationsverket tries to prove you wrong)

Not every day is beautiful. But you’re still here.
And that counts for something.

5 people were taken to the hospital, including the driver. One man is seriously injured.

🚧 The cause? Police believe the driver may have fallen ill.

I once sat in a språkcafé where someone introduced themselves by saying they were arbetslös.

The group leader IMMEDIATELY interrupted:
🛑 “No, no. You’re arbetssökande.”

Because it sounds more hopeful. More proactive. Less… depressing.

Swedish has this gentle way of naming things, like it’s trying not to hurt your feelings.

You’re not jobless. You’re seeking.
You’re not failing. You’re learning.

Even a kontrollavgift sounds like less of a slap than a “fine” 😂

Language really does shape mindset and Swedish often feels soft, careful, and slightly euphemistic… but kind.

I’m not speaking from personal experience here (running three businesses keeps me very employed 😅) but I’ll never forget that moment.

And honestly? There’s something beautiful about being in a country where even the words are designed to protect your hope 🥹

This year, we celebrated two anniversaries in one evening 🍕✨

Ours on July 30th (9 years!) and my parents’ on August 1st (38 years!).

Since Tomasz was in the hospital recently, we decided to bring everyone together for a small but meaningful dinner out.

We ended up at this cozy little pizzeria in Gothenburg — tiny place, big flavor.

We started with bruschetta, then shared three different pizzas:
🍕 Eleonora
🍕 Tre Colore
🍕 Prosciutto
All served on thin, crispy crusts that were just chef’s kiss.

And even though I’m usually picky with tiramisu, this one totally won me over.
Soft, balanced, and not overly sweet — exactly how it should be.

We’ll definitely be back — and if you’re ever nearby, this hidden gem is worth a visit.

🧠 If you’ve ever tried understanding someone from Skåne speaking full-speed skånska, you know this meme hits hard 😅

Swedes from other parts of the country often joke that Skåne has its own language.

👉 Skånska is a super strong dialect spoken in southern Sweden, and even native Swedes sometimes struggle to catch every word. So imagine being a language learner…

Fun fact from my own journey:

When I was learning Swedish in Poland, my teacher was from Gothenburg so I learned “clear, melodic västkust-Swedish.”
But in the meantime I visited only Skåne for years 🫠

Later, when I applied to a school in Markaryd, the teacher immediately asked:
“Did you live in Skåne?”
…because apparently, I had picked up the dialect 😅

No hate - I love Skåne!

But I also love that we can laugh about how wildly different Swedish can sound depending on where you are 🇸🇪
