Today I’m turning 30, spending the day with my husband and parents, wandering around Göteborg, having coffee at the harbour and sushi at recently discovered @izakayagbg (thank you so much for birthday ice-cream gift 🍊) and eating birthday cake my mom baked.

🚨 Sweden is changing how state employees can be treated during criminal investigations.

Under current law, even if a government worker is suspected of a serious crime or seen as a security risk, they can’t be suspended unless they’ve been convicted. That’s about to change.

The Swedish government now wants to give public employers, like the police and armed forces, the right to suspend employees for up to two months at a time, even before trial.

🗣️ Civil Minister Erik Slottner says it’s about protecting trust in public institutions, especially when someone has access to sensitive information or IT systems.

💰 During suspension, the employee would keep their salary and benefits. ⚖️ If it turns out the suspension was unjustified, they could receive compensations.

The law is expected to come into effect on January 1, 2026 and it’s already backed by major authorities like the police and military.
