🚨 A Swedish parliament vote just sparked major controversy.

A proposal linked to stricter citizenship rules was rejected by just ONE vote: 147 to 146.

But here’s what’s causing backlash:
👉 Two MPs from Sweden Democrats voted – even though they were officially marked as absent under the “kvittning” system.
👉 That system is meant to keep things fair when politicians can’t attend.
👉 Their votes ended up deciding the outcome.

Opposition parties are now calling it:
❌ manipulation
❌ undemocratic
❌ “like cheating”

Several parties want the vote to be repeated.

And now the whole system behind these agreements is being questioned.

International Food Festival @ifoodfestival just arrived to Göteborg! 🌍🇸🇪

Gothenburg just turned into a global food tour with the International Food Festival in Bäckebol… of course, I came hungry.

Around 40 food stalls from 24 countries in one place.

What we tried:
🇻🇪 chicken arepas
🇵🇱 pierogi from “Taste of Poland” @the_taste_of_poland
and we also asked the sellers which Polish dishes people in Sweden usually love the most 👀
🇰🇷 Korean BBQ with beef
…and my first ever kimchi 👀

The atmosphere?�Busy, multicultural, slightly chaotic… but in a very good way.

International Food Festival @ifoodfestival just arrived to Göteborg! 🌍🇸🇪

Gothenburg just turned into a global food tour with the International Food Festival in Bäckebol… of course, I came hungry.

From June 6, the basic requirement will change from 5 years in Sweden to 8 years in most cases.

There will also be new rules around income, conduct, language skills and knowledge about Swedish society.

The controversial part?
There are no transitional rules for people who already applied under the old system.

A government-appointed council recommended transitional protection for applicants already in the system. Legal experts also warned against moving forward without it.

But the government still went ahead and ignored those warnings, including advice from the council it had appointed itself.

Opposition parties asked for protection for those applicants, but it did not pass.

For many immigrants in Sweden, this is not just a political debate. It may affect their future directly.
And for Sweden, it raises a bigger question about trust in the system.

We stopped by the @vegan.market.gbg but the weather had other plans, so it turned into a quick visit rather than a full day out.

BUT I did get to catch up with @birdietam.art 🤍

Two days ago I recorded that Poland had raised 13 million złoty for the Cancer Fighters Foundation.

Now it is already over 123 million złoty, and by the time you read this, this number is probably outdated again.

Polish TikToker and influencer Piotr* “Łatwogang” Garkowski @latwogang has been running a 9-day charity livestream, and the whole country seems to have joined in.

People are donating, shaving their heads, getting tattoos, celebrities are appearing, and the stream has already beaten MrBeast’s livestream fundraising record.

And now?
Aftonbladet @aftonbladet wrote about it in Sweden 🇸🇪🇵🇱
