🔴 If you thought personnummer was a challenge…

… then come banks and BankID struggles 😂

Since 2022 it has been harder to get your first BankID. Why? Because bank account is not enough anymore to get it. Now you need to present a document with NFC layer - Swedish passport or national ID which are available only for citizens.

The rest? Well, they need to go to the bank in person to verify their ID.

Times when opening bank account with ICA Banken which is the only bank who just accepts you as you are 😂 was enough - they ended.

Now you need a lot of patience and luck. Or just know the hidden secret branch of the bank that will agree to open bank account during drop in, on the same day (or at least same week 🤷‍♀️).

Don’t be surprised if they tell you to come in 6 months 👌🤣 Good luck! ❤️

Rituals is warning customers about fake birthday messages being sent in their name - via email and SMS - asking people to transfer money. Some scammers even time it around your real birthday to seem more believable.

From Göteborg you can get there easily with public transport - for example with Red bus line to ferry terminal in Lilla Varholmen where you can catch a free ferry straight to the island.

I fell in love with this place on our day one and can’t get enough of it 🥰

Welcome to Valborg - an ancient spring festival where Swedes gather around roaring fires, sing old songs, and pretend it’s totally fine to stand outside in 8°C wearing a light jacket (although this year is amazing, at least in Göteborg).

Originally, people lit fires to chase away evil spirits and witches - but then the Church came along and said, “Let’s make it about Saint Walpurga instead!”. Fast forward a few centuries, and now it’s mostly about good vibes, choral music, student traditions, and finally feeling like winter is over.

✨ So if you see a crowd of people cheering at a giant fire while sipping beer in a park, no worries - that’s just how Swedes welcome spring. With fire. Lots of fire. 🔥

🏡 Empty apartments, free rent deals... what’s going on?
 In Skåpafors, Dalsland, a 3-room apartment with a balcony over Laxsjön is now offered with zero rent for two months - because no one wants to move in. 🏠

The monthly rent is just under 8,000 SEK, but in many parts of Sweden, newly built or renovated apartments stay empty.

Birth rates and migration are falling, and towns with shrinking populations are struggling to fill homes 📉 More housing companies - like in Valdemarsvik, Vänersborg, Helsingborg, and Åstorp - have tried similar campaigns with free months or discounted rents.

Hyresgästföreningen says: the real problem is not marketing. It’s that the rents are too high.
