🎅 Gekås is skipping straight from sun to snow - yes, it’s already Christmas at Ullared.

In the middle of Swedish summer, while most of us are chasing the sun, the iconic megastore has rolled out red-nosed tomtar, glittery ornaments, and candle holders.

Why now? Because shoppers demand it, says CEO Patrik Levin. Many travel far and only visit once a year so they want to buy it all, even Christmas decorations.

🎁 “I’m a real Christmas lover,” he adds. “So I don’t mind a little early spirit.”

🎅 Gekås is skipping straight from sun to snow - yes, it’s already Christmas at Ullared.

📏 Road area = roughly 10 m from the asphalt edge on small roads, up to 15 m on big highways like the E18. On tiny country lanes it can be as little as 3 m.

🚗 Why the fuss? Big, hand-painted boards can block sightlines and cause real crash risks, says Trafikverket.

🚫 No permit? Crews can remove the sign on sight. Fines are rare, but takedowns happen all the time.

Want to stay on the right side of the law? ✅ Put your sign outside the road area and get the land-owner’s approval. ✅ Or apply for an official, regulation-style sign from Trafikverket. ✅ Private roads follow the land-owner’s rules, but safety still matters.

Fun fact: estate-agent arrows are the most common offenders, yet big loppis boards are labelled the bigger risk.

Nordic family drama: centuries in the making 🇸🇪🇳🇴🇫🇮🇩🇰

Their family history includes a lot of forced unions.

🇸🇪 Sweden and Norway were stuck together from 1814 to 1905. 🇫🇮 Finland was basically part of Sweden for six centuries. And 🇩🇰 Denmark would like a word too, but that’s another meme.

Meanwhile in Skåne (the southern part of Sweden), some people online occasionally joke about independence... But no, there’s no Skåne-exit planned. Just memes. Lots of memes.

Maybe that’s why relationships up north are complicated (but hilarious 😂).
They’re not just neighbors. They’re exes, step-siblings, and frenemies rolled into one frosty family portrait 🙈
